The Gilded Heiress They Called a Maid

At her father's funeral and then the rail boardroom, Edith is rejected until self-made rival Theo Shaw reveals he holds the stake that gives her control.

At Harold and Cecily's engagement party, Edith publicly reads a page showing Prescott's debt; Cecily threatens to expose Edith's maid secret.

Edith turns Cecily's threat around, exposing her gambling debts and empty title; Warren moves the wedding up to secure a loan against Cecily's name.

Edith and Theo plan a counter-attack; their business alliance turns intimate with an almost-kiss. Harold sees them and bribes a foreman to sabotage a shipment and blame Theo.

At the cathedral wedding, Edith objects, reads proof of Harold's embezzlement, and halts the ceremony; Cecily plays her last card by revealing she knows how Edith's father really died.

As Edith digs into Cecily's claim, lawyer Finch reveals a secret will clause: she must marry within 18 months to control the board. Warren strikes with a promissory note demanding her shares.

Theo spots the promissory note as a forgery; Warren retaliates by having Edith arrested on a false fraud charge.

Released on bail, Edith discovers an empty vial in the servant's entrance and learns Dr. Crane was paid by Warren to drug her father—and that she was the next target.

Edith tells Theo the truth; lawyer Finch, missing after being bought by Prescott, returns with her father's sealed letter naming Warren as his killer.

Warren produces a forged ledger framing Edith as an embezzler; the board votes to strip her of control, leaving her publicly shamed.
